Following my question to the Prime Minister on 8 December regarding the rollout of booster vaccines across Somerton and Frome, I met with the Vaccines Minister, Maggie Throup, the Director of Commissioning at NHS England for the South West and Senior Responsible Office for the Vaccination Programme in the South West, and a representative from the local clinical commissioning group.
In the meeting we discussed the limited availability of vaccination sites and the Minister updated me on the steps they are taken to improve access. All primary care networks will be involved in administrating the roll out of the booster jab. This will now include more locations, such as Frome and Langport, and various pop up clinics across our constituency. In addition to that, pharmacies and GP surgeries will also be in a position to administer boosters.
I have been reassured that all those who wish to be vaccinated, will be able to receive their vaccination by the 31st December due to the sheer scale of effort being put into the roll out of the booster programme across Somerset and Somerton and Frome specifically.
Appointments for vaccines are available, whether it is your first, second or booster, please do get vaccinated as it is the best protection against serious illness!
