Supporting Somerset Cider

As one of his first acts after the election, David joined with CAMRA to lead a campaign against the potential removal of the UK duty exemption for small cider producers. This would have a devastating impact on countless small producers across the South West and David delivered a 26,000 signature petition to 10 Downing Street and tabled an Early Day motion which attracted significant cross-party support from MPs as politically diverse as Jeremy Corbyn, Zac Goldsmith and Caroline Lucas. Subsequently, the Treasury wrote David a letter to confirm that the exemption would be retained “until or unless a replacement scheme” could be established.
